T O P I C R E V I E WthisismillsOn the latest episode of Antiques Roadshow, the granddaughter of USS Noa's Captain, which famously recovered John Glenn after the first American orbital space flight, brought in this artifact for appraisal.MarylandSpaceI hope the Captain didn't snap it off like kids used to snap off hood ornaments... Just kidding. Awesome artifact.Hart SastrowardoyoHeh! You must have grown up in a rather benign community, because in my hood, it was the antennas that were snapped off, not the hood ornaments.MarylandSpaceNow I remember. My Dad had to buy a replacement antenna to slip over the antenna stub and screw on. Probably at R & S Auto Stores in NJ. The hood ornaments were from "upscale cars" and then worn on chains around one's neck.
